Mission: The Remnant for Youth Basketball
The mission of The Remnant for Youth Basketball is to create life-giving basketball environments for middle school players—where confidence comes before performance, joy comes before pressure, and every child feels seen and valued.
Basketball is the vehicle.
The environment is the ministry.
Through small-sided play, encouragement, and calm leadership, we help kids grow in confidence, decision-making, and love for the game—without fear, politics, or burnout.

The Vision: A Healthier Way for Kids to Play
We envision gyms where:
-
Kids are encouraged, not yelled at
-
Mistakes are part of learning, not shame
-
Playing time is real
-
Confidence is protected
-
Joy is visible
Our vision is not about producing elite athletes early.
It’s about helping kids enjoy basketball long enough to grow into who they’re becoming.
When kids feel safe and free, development follows naturally.
The Coach Behind the Environment
Kevin Roberts is a youth basketball coach and the founder of 3on3 Live, a development-focused program built specifically for middle school players.
Kevin believes most kids don’t quit basketball because they “aren’t good enough.”
They quit because the environment becomes too intense, too political, or too joyless—too soon.
His approach is centered on:
-
Small group play
-
Real reps and decision-making
-
Encouragement over correction
-
Calm, steady leadership
Parents often describe the environment as:
“Peaceful, but purposeful.”
“Competitive, but healthy.”
“Exactly what my kid needed.”

The Remnant Youth Basketball Framework
Confidence-First. Development-Driven. Joy-Centered.
1. Confidence Comes First
Kids play better when they believe in themselves.
Confidence is built through encouragement, repetition, and freedom to make mistakes—not fear or comparison.
2. Joy Over Pressure
Kids learn best when they enjoy being there.
Joy keeps kids engaged, curious, and willing to try.
Pressure shuts kids down.
3. Growth Through Play
Basketball IQ develops through real game situations.
Small-sided play gives kids more touches, more decisions, and more learning—without over-coaching.
4. Calm, Servant Leadership
Coaches set the emotional tone.
A calm, encouraging presence helps kids stay regulated, focused, and confident—especially at this age.
5. Belonging Matters
Kids grow when they feel they belong.
Ability develops over time.
Belonging needs to be immediate.
What This Means for Parents
Parents choose this environment because they want:
-
Their child to enjoy basketball again
-
A healthier alternative to high-pressure programs
-
Clear structure without intensity
-
A coach who actually sees their kid
-
Peace instead of anxiety on the sidelines
This program is designed to support kids where they are, not where someone thinks they should be.
